Greetings from the Principal,
Mrs. Sharon Walters

Dear Parents, families and friends of Robert J. Burch,

Here we are in our final month of school for the 2008-09 school year. It has been another busy year full of learning and growing. I have loved watching the students each day as they encounter new experiences and sharing in their excitement for learning. Our teachers are dedicated to filling each day with new opportunities that inspire their students to learn more.

As you plan for summer include some time to review math facts and to read. It can be made into fun activities that your child will enjoy and at the same time help them to retain all they have learned. Everything from reading the roadside signs to figuring how much change you should get from your $20 at the grocery store will help. Once you start thinking of ways to include learning in your day you will be amazed at the opportunities that present themselves. I hope you also get to enjoy just spending time with your child whether at home or on a summer vacation. Their time with you passes all too quickly so make sure they have opportunities to make lasting memories.

I look forward to seeing our returning students in August.  Have a wonderful summer!  Go Burch Bears!

Sharon Walters, Principal

Greetings from the Assistant Principal,
Mr. Toby Black

Dear Robert J. Burch Family,

I am extremely proud to be the newest Burch Bear as your Assistant Principal.  I come to you with a wealth of experiences and knowledge that I hope to use to create a warm, welcome, and safe learning environment for your child and our entire school.  My teaching career has covered all areas of education from Huddleston Elementary to McIntosh High, giving me the unique perspective of teaching students on their first day of Elementary School and their last day of High School.  During my eighteen years in the Fayette County School System, I have had the privilege of building young men and women through my responsibilities as Teacher, Coach, In-School Suspension Director and Administrative Intern.

Growing up in Fayette County and graduating from Fayette County High has allowed me to be a lifelong member of our community and experience first hand the best education in the state of Georgia. I am married to my lovely wife, April who is a stay at home mom running our farm (zoo) and keeping up with our 8 year old daughter Claire.  With all the growth I have seen in the past 20 years in our county, I pledge to do my part to continue to provide the one constant of Fayette County, a bright future through a great education.

I would like to extend this greeting to you as an invitation to join me in taking part in your child’s education and building a relationship toward achievement and success.

Go Bears!

Toby Black
Assistant Principal
