Greetings from the Principal,
Mrs. Sharon Walters

Dear Burch Families:

Can you believe that we are approaching the half way mark in our school year?  The culture at Robert J. Burch for the 2009-2010 school year continues to present a picture of teamwork with an eager staff launching a vision where all skills focus on each student’s individual progress.  We are a team that’s thriving because we care, we are focused and we are enacting change.  We care about our students, parents, and community.  We’re focused on student achievement by presenting the Georgia Performance Standards and in helping each child gain confidence.  We’re changing through effective collaboration, training on 21st century technology, and becoming a stronger united team with shared decision making and leadership. Student pride is evident! We want the very best for each of our Burch Bears – and they want to do their very best!
Life skills, learning skills and information skills have been integrated into the basic core subjects of reading, language arts, math, science, social studies, and the arts.  Competence is growing as academic and teamwork skills align with a set of life principles.  Robert J. Burch’s mission is “to provide our students with the academic and life skills needed to become responsible and productive members of society.”  Robert J. Burch Elementary School is THRIVING!

Respectfully,
 Sharon Walters

Principal

Greetings from the Assistant Principal,
Mr. Toby Black

Welcome to Robert J. Burch Elementary,

My name is Toby Black and I am proud to be your assistant principal.  As a product of the Fayette County School System it is my privilege to continue the tradition of providing your child with the best education in the state of Georgia.

I would like to thank the Burch students and families for the warm welcome and all the support last year.  My first year as a Burch Bear was extremely rewarding and it was all due to the great staff and families that support the outstanding students here at Robert J. Burch.

I will continue to pledge my leadership to ensure that Burch is a warm, welcome, and safe environment in which your student can grow and thrive.  I take this responsibility with great pride and ask that if you ever have any needs or concerns, please feel free to contact me.

Again, welcome to Robert J. Burch Elementary and I hope you have a wonderful school year.

Go Bears!

Toby Black
